AK36-Bird House Bar, Bird Creek, Alaska

During the massive 1964 earthquake that hit Alaska, the Bird House Bar sank four feet into the ground. The owners simply dug out the dirt floor, sunk new posts around the bar for seating and opened for business. Visitors would leave their calling cards stapled to the ceiling....everything from business cards to undergarmets. Unfortunately, this interesting piece of Alaskan caught fire in 1996 and burned to the ground.
