The Olnes Depot, once a stop on the Tanana Valley Railroad, which connected Fairbanks with the gold mines in Fox and Chatanika, would later be rented (along with the entire town) to individuals working on the Alaska Pipeline. Later, it was a small store serving visitors to Olnes Pond and the Chatanika River. The depot has since burned down. Very little is left of the old community of Olnes and even the Tanana Valley Railroad right-of-way is hard to find.
