The starting line of the Artic Man Ski and Sno Go Classic begins on a 5600 foot peak in the Hoo Doo Mountains, 180 miles from both Anchorage and Fairbanks and 12 miles off the Richardson Highway at Summit Lake. The skiers team up with a snowmobile trailing a water ski rope. The snowmobile pulls the skier up through a narrow, twisting gorge to the top of another 5600 foot summit, where they sling-shot off toward the finish line. The skiers average 80+ miles per hour over the five mile course.
